"Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad started activities somewhere in 1948 and registered on 9th July, 1949 as a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) under Societies Registration Act 1860. Our first convention was organized in 1948 at Ambala. Prof Om Prakash Bahal was our first National President, and Sri Keshav Deo Verma was the first National General Secretary. ABVP is neither a Trade Union nor a branch or wing of a political party. It is an independent social organization with focus on education.
